Luigi’s Mansion 4: What’s Next for Luigi?

Luigi Mansion 4

Luigi’s Mansion 4 is a game released only for the Nintendo Switch. It was developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo. This game is the fourth entry in the Luigi’s Mansion series.

Narrative

During the Easter season, Mario and Luigi are staying at Professor Elvin Gadd’s Gloomy Manor while Princess Peach and her friends vacation in Bubblaine.

They watch a rugby match in the evening, and E. Gadd asks the boys to fix the garage’s central heating, offering to pay them. Mario politely declines payment, saying they’ll do it for free.

After a long day, they go to bed exhausted but are awakened by the sound of a door slamming downstairs. They rush downstairs to investigate and find a shady bounty hunter holding a portrait of Hellen Gravely. He pulls out a shotgun, but E. Gadd tries to fight him off, telling Mario and Luigi to return to their room.

In-Game Experience

Much like the previous three games in the series, this one has Luigi capturing ghosts with the Poltergust S-88ATION. However, unlike the third installment, which had two-player co-op, this game features four-player co-op, adding Mario and a new character named Slario to the team. Luigi also has a new device called the “DS Cry,” an upgrade from the Virtual Boo.

A returning feature from the original Luigi’s Mansion on the Nintendo Gamecube is the Elemental Medal. When Luigi or Mario finds the medal, they can use the Poltergust to absorb Elemental Ghosts and use their fire, water, or ice powers to defeat other ghosts and reduce their HP quickly, making them easier to capture.

Spooky Skyscraper

Like its predecessor, ScareScraper is back. It supports up to sixteen players in co-op multiplayer to clear either 5, 10, or a random number of floors between two and ten.

Each floor has a five-minute time limit, except for the Rooftop, which has about a ten-minute limit. The mode includes procedurally generated floors with various challenges like Capture the Ghosts!, Find the Toads!, and Collect the Money!.

Screamscraper

A multiplayer party mode where four teams of four compete on various levels. They have two minutes to capture the most Slappies, collect the most coins while riding floaties in an indoor pool, avoid hitting a wooden castle pellet trap, and hit the most bullseye targets on a rotating wooden pirate wheel to win.

Key Characters

Ready for Gameplay

Luigi – The cowardly goofball of the Mario Brothers is back to his ghost-sucking duties. This time, he’s joined by three others, including his brother. He’s lucky if anyone’s being honest.

Mario – Usually the one getting kidnapped in Luigi’s adventures, Mario isn’t in danger this time. Instead, he joins the adventure as a switchable character, hanging out in E. Gadd’s lab with Polterpup.

Gooigi – Gooigi, a green clone of Luigi, is made of goo and lacks common sense or quick reactions. Created by Professor E. Gadd, he’s used to uncover secrets in specific areas.

Slario – Despite the “G” on his hat, E. Gadd calls him “Slario” for undisclosed scientific reasons. Like Gooigi, Slario is a slimy clone of Mario but is cooler and slicker, likely due to E. Gadd’s twist on Bowser’s idea of evil perfection for good.
