Does Sea of Thieves Support Cross-Platform on PS5, Xbox, and PC?

Sea of Thieves allows cross-platform play on PS5, PC, and Xbox. You can collaborate with friends across different platforms to take on all the game’s adventures.

You can play with friends across different platforms and use the cross-save feature to continue your progress and character on PC, PS5, or Xbox. A Microsoft account is required to sign in on Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam.

Enabling Crossplay in Sea of Thieves on PS5, Xbox, and PC

In contrast to other games that require setting adjustments for crossplay, Sea of Thieves makes it simple. Cross-platform play is available from the start.

To start, add your friends using the in-game menus. Then, you can join a lobby with them.

Turning Off Crossplay

To turn off crossplay for Sea of Thieves on consoles, do the following:

1. Access the Settings menu on your console.
2. Head to the ‘Matchmaking’ section.
3. Find the ‘Allow Crossplay’ option and turn it off.
4. Save the changes and leave the menu.

From now on, you will only be matched with players using Xbox or PS5.

Adding Friends in Sea of Thieves

Regardless of your platform, you must use the Xbox App to add friends to Sea of Thieves. For PC users, follow these steps:

PC

1. Launch the Xbox app on your Windows PC and navigate to the ‘Social’ section in the upper-left corner. 
2. Enter your friend’s name into the ‘Find people’ search bar.
3. Their name will show up in the list below. Select their name to open their profile.
4. On the far right side, click the ‘Add Friend’ button.

Xbox

1. To access the menu, press the Xbox button on your controller. Navigate to the top of the menu and locate the second icon, which features two individuals. Select this icon.
2. If you have recently played a game with a friend, go to the ‘Recently played with’ section. Here, you can easily add them.
3. Alternatively, you can locate your friend by using the ‘Find someone’ feature.

PS5

1. Press the PS button on your DualSense controller and choose Game Base.
2. Navigate to the Friends Tab and find players.
3. Type a player’s real name or online ID and press Add Friend.

After these steps, head to the lobby screen and click the ‘Invite Friends’ button. Pick your friend’s name from the list that pops up, and you’re all set to sail the seas together!
