It boasts the most current roster ever seen in a FIFA title. Additionally, FIFA 22 enjoys a robust multiplayer community, facilitating cross-platform play and accommodating a wide range of players across various gaming platforms.

FIFA 22 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, and Microsoft Windows, offering extensive platform support. 

Cross-play functionality was not initially included upon FIFA 22’s release despite its broad compatibility. 

The game is currently in the testing phase to ensure smooth implementation of cross-play features across all platforms.

EA has initially restricted testing to two modes to avoid introducing new bugs with cross-play integration. While cross-play functionality may be limited in FIFA 22, future titles are expected to embrace its benefits fully.

Is FIFA 22 Crossplay?

Cross-play is currently enabled for Online Seasons and Online Friendlies in FIFA 22. EA uses the data and feedback gathered from these modes to inform the development of future titles with cross-play functionality. 

While cross-play in FIFA 22 is limited, it indicates a potential expansion of this feature in upcoming FIFA games.

Cross-play also supports cross-generation play, allowing you to connect and play between older and newer generation consoles interchangeably.

How to Enable Cross-play in FIFA 22?

Enabling cross-play in FIFA 22 is straightforward, allowing anyone to join your games once activated. 

To enable cross-play, navigate the Matchmaking Options under Customize and toggle the Cross-Play Opt-In/Opt-Out setting. Follow these steps to proceed:

• First, get to the FIFA 22 main menu.
• Next, it’s time to find your friend’s list. This involves a quick trigger pull: use the right trigger (RT on Xbox or R2 on PlayStation) to navigate there.
• If your friend isn’t already on your list, you must add them. Press the Y button on Xbox, while PlayStation players will use Triangle. Enter their online username (Gamertag for Xbox, PSN for PlayStation) and find them in the search results.
• Once you’ve selected their name, it’s time to team up officially! Press the confirmation button (X on Xbox, Square on PlayStation) to add them.
• But wait, there’s one more step! Since you’re on different consoles, enable the Cross-Play option. This lets you play with friends across platforms.

Cross-play functionality in FIFA 22 remains enabled even outside playing sessions with friends. If you prefer to restrict cross-play to only when playing with friends, you’ll need to disable it each time you finish playing together manually. 

Repeat the earlier process and select the “Disable Cross-Play” option to do this. This ensures that your cross-play settings align with your preferences, whether aiming for broader online interaction or focusing solely on playing with friends.
