IoT (Internet of Things) Cloud Services

The CloudOut and CloudIn widgets send and receive data from open IoT (Internet of Things) cloud services including Xively(formerly COSM and Pachube), Open.Sen.se, and ThingSpeak. These services allow for devices, software, or people to post and receive feeds from anywhere in the world. For example, a gesture sensor in Pasadena could send its values to the cloud, and video displays in London and Beijing can access the latest value of that sensor, and play different scenes based on the Pasadena sensor value.

The key thing about these services is that feeds can be posted and retrieved from anywhere, without the need to have a direct connection between the sender and receiver. The IoT cloud service handles the asynchronous reception, storage, and delivery of the feeds.

The Future of Flash (Pro):

Today, the Flash Pro team is releasing an update that should be a fairly major milestone in the tool’s history. In this post I’ll explain my personal view of what’s changed, why it’s a good idea, and where Flash goes from here. (see blog post).

Flash Professional CC 2014 October released:

Continuing with the momentum gained with the June release, Flash Professional CC 2014 October update brings to you even more features to make your life easier.  Whether you are an animator, web designer, educational content developer, advertiser or for that matter any platform or library developer, you will find something that is designed just for you.  Here are a few of the highlights –
WebGL Scripting/Interactivity and audio support
Custom Brush support
Animation Guide Support
AIR support for Intel x86 based Android devices
In addition, we’ve brought back Import SWF and AIR shared runtime support by popular demand.  You can find more about the features.
Last but not the least we’ve added support for Custom Platforms that will allow third party platform/library developers to leverage Flash Professional’s animation design paradigms including stage, timeline and creative tools to directly publish to their own platforms. To know more click here.

Animator vs. Animation IV

After many years, “Animator vs Animation” is back and it’s better than ever!

The struggle between a stick figure and its creator, a computer animator. In this fourth installment, the animator is finally shown in real life interacting with his computer monitor. The stick figure, resisting his tormentor, attacks his social life by hacking his Facebook account, traveling onto his iPhone via USB cord, and drawing animations of his own to dismantle the animation interface.

Tutorial: Guide for Supporting Screen Orientation with Full-Screen Flash Player Content

Prior to version 15, Flash Player (FP) did not provide notification of change in screen orientation. Starting with FP version 15 (FP 15), notification of screen orientation will be provided through triggering of a resize event if the FP content is playing in full-screen. Also, FP 15 will allow the Stage.fullScreenSourceRect property to be set even while in full-screen and have the setting take effect without a display state change. FP contents that support full screen playback should be modified to react to the resize events that are triggered when the screen orientation changes.
