There are tons of apps using GPU mode on mobile with Bitmaps on the Stage with smooth 60 fps performance. I believe many developers should want to be able to publish them to Steam with the same great performance they can expect on mobile.
Since Desktop publishing through AIR does not support GPU render mode today you get really bad CPU render performance on all render modes if your game is built using the Stage, Sprites and Bitmaps. The only alternative is to remake the games to use Stage3D.
Since GPU render mode works so well for mobile (often we get higher performance than using Starling) it would be great to be able to publish to desktop using the same GPU render mode.
I have created a Feature Request and would really appreciate your votes on this.
HLAG is a high level shader language that compiles to AGAL code for use in Adobe Flash or Adobe AIR projects.

Written in AIR for creating AGAL from high level shader code. Its still early alpha at the moment but i’d like to get some feedback from Flash Developers on what could be done for improvements. It exports as an XML format which I am hoping other engines will support if it becomes more popular. I will provide documentation soon but there is some information on the website.
